Ty's Birthday

Here's what we did on Sunday morning, the morning of Ty's fourth birthday.  Watched cartoons.

And enjoyed a little cake.

Birthday cookies and milk.

Dragon Cake

Ty has been talking for MONTHS about his dragon birthday cake.  For the past several months, he has been really in to the movie "How to Train Your Dragon."  And he decided (completely on his own) that he was having a dragon birthday party.  And Mommy was happy to oblige.  (It just took me a while to figure out how I was going to make a dragon cake.)

Tuttle's Orchard and Pumpkin Carving

Playing at Tuttle's Orchard with Trista, Elisha and Ellie

Picking apples...and sampling a little too!

Nothing says "fall" like an apple cider slushie.

After we went to the orchard, we came back to our house and ordered Pizza King and carved pumpkins.  No better way to spend a fall Friday evening if you ask me!

Buddy

I suppose it's necessary to post the bad things that happen in life as well as the good.  So here's the sad story of Dallas' pal, Buddy.  The picture above was taken on a Sunday.  As you can see, Dallas and Buddy have always gotten along fine.  Since we moved, we were training the dogs on an invisible fence system and they seemed to be getting the hang of it.  On Tuesday, while Shelsea was watching the boys, Dallas was playing with Buddy and all the sudden for no apparent reason, he freaked out and bit Dallas several times in the face.  The guy from animal control seemed to think it was just due to the stress of the move and being trained on the fence that just made Buddy snap momentarily, instead of it being a vicious attack.  After a trip to Hancock Memorial ER and then sitting at the ER at Riley literally all night long, Dallas got stitched up by two amazing maxillofacial surgeons.  The good news is, they seem to think there will be little if any long term scarring and by the next day Dallas acted like nothing even happened.  Sadly, Buddy isn't with us anymore, which was a really hard decision to make, but the right one nonetheless.

I Can Do It!

On this particular morning, Ty wanted to make his own sandwich for school.  He's Mr. Independent lately.

Looks good!
