On April 17, Mammaw with Taloose took the grandkids to the Children's Museum (along with Aunt Kaygan, Aunt Shelsea and me).
Here are the boys with Kaydence and Kendall.
The boys were thrilled to have their S. Carolina cousins stay with us for a few days. Here's everybody at Jake and Taryn's birthday party.
Here's our first attempt at freeing the ducks. They are full grown now and too big to keep with the chickens anymore, so we took them over to the creek next door.
Here's Dallas giving them a goodbye hug.
As serene and comforting as this all looks, it was a total flop. Since they think they're chickens, they freaked out when Justin put them in the water. They immediately jumped back up on land and proceeded to follow us home. So we figured we try again in a few days by taking them someplace they can't follow us home....the bike park. Unfortunately, before we had a chance to take them there a hawk or something tried to get one of them and he had a saggy bloody wing. I splinted it up for a few days and thankfully, he was no worse for the wear. So, with both of them healthy again, we took them to the bike park. They still weren't too keen on the pond at first, but here they are after about 2 weeks at the park. Success!!
Bedtime storied are so much more fun with cousins! The boys were really intrigued (perhaps annoyed?) by the fact that while they had to go to school, their cousins got to stay home with us because they are homeschooled. Jake even went with me to eat lunch with them at school, and they thought they were big stuff introducing their high school cousin to all their friends (This is my cousin, Jake. He's homeschooled!) Now, they keep asking me if they can be homeschooled, which clearly in their minds means you play most of the day and only have to learn for a little bit. We can all dream, I suppose....
